TORONTO, April 1, 2025 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) continues to see strong demand for its electrified vehicles, reaching a record of 12,449 electrified units sold in March 2025, up 16.0% year-over-year, for a record total of 28,322 electrified vehicles sold during Q1.
These electrified vehicles sales represented 54.7% of overall March TCI sales and 55.7% of overall Q1 TCI sales.
For the Toyota Division, electrified vehicle sales represented 54.4% of all units sold in Q1 2025 while electrified vehicles represented 63.1% of all Lexus Division units sold in Q1 2025.
A total of 2,736 Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV, comprised of EV, PHEV and FCEV) were among the electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold in Q1. These ZEV sales were helped by record quarters for Lexus RX 450h+ and Lexus NX 450h+.
For the Toyota Division, electrified vehicle sales represented 53.8% of all units sold in March while electrified vehicles represented 60.3% of all Lexus Division units sold in March.
March and Q1 Sales
Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) sold 50,835 vehicles during Q1, down 11.2% year over year and sold 22,756 vehicles in March 2025, down 6.3% from March 2024.
Toyota division saw Q1 sales of 43,140 units sold, down 14.9% year over year and March sales of 19,538 units, down 9.9% from March 2024.
Lexus division saw record Q1 sales of 7,695 units sold, up 17.6% year over year and record March sales of 3,218 units, up 23.6% from March 2024.

Toyota and Lexus vehicles assembled in Canada in high demand
Canada’s best-selling passenger vehicle, the Toyota RAV4, built by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, saw a record Q1 and best month of sales in history in March 2025 for its hybrid version, with 9,442 units sold in Q1, up 53.2% year over year, including 4,470 units in March, up 66.9% year over year. March was also a record month for total RAV4 sales with 8,801 units sold, up 4.8% year over year.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada-made Lexus RX and NX both saw record Q1 sales and record March sales for their electrified versions: the RX Hybrid is up in 19.6% for Q1 and 8.2% for March while the NX Hybrid is up 45.5% for Q1 and up 119.3% for March year over year.
