Toyota Canada Sets March and Q1 Sales Records

Record Q1 Electrified Vehicles Sales at 44.8% of Overall Q1 Sales

Record 5,376 ZEVs Sold During Q1


TORONTO, Ontario – April 2, 2024 – Following record January and February sales, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) sold 24,287 vehicles in March 2024, a record for March sales, and up 22.5% from March 2023.

Toyota division had a March sales record, selling 21,683 units, up 28.4% from March 2023. Lexus division sold 2,604 units, down 11.4% from March 2023.

On a quarterly basis, TCI sold a Q1 record of 57,266 vehicles during Q1 2024, up 27.5% from Q1 2023.

Toyota division sold a record 50,722 units, up 34.9% from Q1 2023. Lexus division sold 6,544 units, down 10.6% from Q1 2023.

Strong Q1 for electrified vehicles
Electrified vehicles represented 44.2% of TCI’s overall March sales and 44.8% of overall Q1 sales. Both Toyota and Lexus divisions saw record electrified vehicle uptake during Q1, with 22,023 units for Toyota and 3,639 units for Lexus.

Toyota division electrified vehicles sales were led by a RAV4 Hybrid Q1 sales record, and by record Q1 sales for Prius Prime, Tundra Hybrid, Corolla Cross Hybrid, bZ4X, Sienna Hybrid and Sequoia Hybrid, as well as strong Grand Highlander Hybrid Q1 sales results.

Lexus division electrified vehicles sales were led by Q1 record sales of the RX Hybrid, RZ and UX Hybrid.

A record of 5,376 Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV, comprised of EV, PHEV and FCEV) units were among the electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold during Q1.

Made in Canada vehicles continue to lead the way
Vehicles assembled in Canada led the charge in Q1, both for Toyota and Lexus brands. Sales of the best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada in 2023, the Toyota RAV4, were up 22.7% for Q1, led by record January, February and March sales of the RAV4 Hybrid. Meanwhile, Lexus RX Hybrid sales reached record Q1 sales.
