TORONTO, Ontario (September 26th, 2023) – With its enviable balance of performance, design, comfort, technology, safety, and efficiency, the Toyota Corolla is the ultimate compact sedan. New for 2024, Toyota upgrades the Toyota Multimedia system on all L, LE, and LE Upgrade models to enable more services – ensuring even more Canadians can stay connected with the people and things that matter while on the move.
“With a history spanning more than half a century, the Corolla has provided millions of Canadians with safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation – and the current generation continues that tradition while adding fun-to-drive performance and handling, modern style, and impressible bundles of features and amenities,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Best of all, the world’s best-selling vehicle is more efficient than ever – with four compelling Corolla grades built around Toyota’s popular and proven hybrid technology.”
The 2024 Corolla is stylish, dynamic, and athletic. Curbside, the Corolla is poised for action from every angle – with a body that expresses its low centre of gravity through perfectly proportioned curves and a planted stance. Details such as the honeycomb grille, sporting J-shaped bi-beam LED headlamps, and wheels pushed to the corners exude power, performance, and the promise of fun – wherever life leads. The L line Corollas exhibit classic style, while the S line models express the sportier side of Corolla with larger wheels, a wider honeycomb grille, dual tip exhaust, and rear lip spoiler.
Inside, Corolla’s driver-focused cabin is designed for exceptional comfort and convenience, with room for five adults. The instrument panel is cleverly shaped to enhance the driver’s field of view, while soft touch controls and premium materials elevate Corolla’s sense of style.
Every Corolla puts intuitive technology at one’s fingertips – and one’s voice. The Toyota Multimedia system – included as standard on every model – is a bundle of start connectivity technologies that keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. The system integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens.
New for 2024, Toyota Canada has enhanced the bundle of available connected services on the L, LE and LE Upgrade models. Corolla L and LE grades now include Safety Connect and Service Connect. LE Upgrade, SE, and SE Upgrade trim levels include Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect, while the XSE grade also features Drive Connect.
Under the hood, Toyota engineers developed two impressive powertrains to get the most performance and efficiency out of the Corolla.
Six Corolla grades are built around a gas powertrain featuring a 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine, Direct Shift CVT, and front wheel drive. This combination delivers 169 peak horsepower and up to 151 lb-ft of torque.
Four Corolla Hybrid grades feature Toyota’s popular and proven hybrid technology, built around a 1.8L Atkinson Cycle inline four-cylinder engine, an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (CVT), high-torque electric motor-generator system, and Lithium-Ion battery. This powertrain generates 138 system horsepower while achieving incredible fuel efficiency – rated as low as 4.4L / 100km city/highway combined. In addition, Corolla Hybrid is the only compact hybrid passenger car available with all-wheel-drive. Corolla Hybrid AWD models are fitted with Toyota’s innovative electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive system (AWD), which using separate, rear-mounted electric motors to power the rear wheels when needed, for added driving confidence in any weather.
Built on the revolutionary Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the Corolla series features sleek styling and a low centre of gravity for greater stability and reduced noise and vibration. Toyota engineers enhanced these sedan advantages with a rigid body structure, carefully tuned suspensions, and active cornering assist technologies to deliver outstanding agility and stability without compromise. The Corolla S line models feature specially-tuned front and rear suspensions to give the driver a more connected road feel – all without sacrificing ride comfort.
Every Corolla and Corolla Hybrid also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – the newest configuration of Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, 10 airbags, and an anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.
