Toyota’s self-charging gasoline-electric hybrid liftback is the iconic ambassador for efficiency, style, and advanced features
TORONTO, ONTARIO – July 12, 2021 – Combine the fuel efficiency and low emissions of an electrified powertrain with the style and driving fun of a sporty liftback, then add in a generous mix of in-demand advanced technology and safety features. That’s the recipe for success that has made the Toyota Prius the world ambassador for hybrid vehicles and the future of the automobile. The vehicle that popularized the advanced power and efficiency of an electrified powertrain comes in a range of models for 2022– including both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. All models combine style, efficiency, driving fun and advanced yet intuitive technology.
“Canadians have a choice of many electrified vehicle options today – but none has the track record of the Toyota Prius – and the Prius is the only non-hybrid luxury passenger vehicle with available all-wheel-drive for extra driving confidence year-round,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “From versatility, to performance and handling, to style, features, and technology - the Toyota Prius has it all. It’s the ideal vehicle for life in Canada.”
Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture, every model features the Toyota Hybrid Drive system – the world’s most popular and proven advanced powertrain. In the Prius, a 1.8L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine combined with high-torque electric motors deliver 120 system horsepower while also recording impressive efficiency numbers: 4.4L / 100km for front-wheel-drive models and 4.7L / 100km for those equipped with all-wheel-drive (city/highway combined).
For year-round driving confidence, the Prius is available in three all-wheel-drive configurations. Designed specifically for compact hybrid vehicles, the Prius AWD-e system uses electric motors to provide instant torque to the rear wheels whenever more traction is required. At all other times, Prius AWD-e models operate in front wheel drive mode to maximize fuel efficiency and minimize emissions.
All 2022 Toyota Prius models express outstanding style. New for 2022, models equipped with the AWD-e Technology and AWD-e Technology advanced packages are available in an exclusive two-tone paint scheme of Platinum White Pearl body with a Celestial Black roof.
Inside, Prius welcomes driver and up to four passengers to a high-tech cabin featuring soft-touch materials and smart design. With both rear seats stowed, the Prius offers more space for cargo than some small SUVs and most full-size sedans.
All models are equipped with touchscreen display audio systems. Models equipped with the 11.6” display features Apple CarPlay connectivity, while those with a 7” display also offer Android Auto capability.
Every Prius is standard equipped with a long list of safety systems and technologies. All models featureToyota Safety Sense 2.0 – a bundle of active safety technologies that help extend the driver’s awareness and ability to avoid collisions or mitigate their effect. Upgrades bundled into higher trim levels include Toyota’s Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, Intelligent Clearance Sonar with Intelligent Parking Assist, and a Head Up Display.
