Toronto, Ontario, May 1, 2018 – Led by the Canadian-made Toyota RAV4, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) saw its best April to-date for truck sales, with 13,359 units sold, up 7.6% compared to 2017.
TCI saw a slight decline in overall sales during the month of April with 21,900 units sold, down 0.3% compared to last year. The Toyota division reported sales of 19,493 vehicles, up 0.9% and the Lexus luxury division sold 2,407 units, down 9.2% compared to 2017.
Hybrid vehicle sales continue to grow
TCI continued to experience strong hybrid sales in April, with 2,129 units sold, up 14.3% compared to 2017. This number was bolstered by sales of the new Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid (361 units), as well as several other hybrid models in the Toyota lineup, including: the Toyota Prius (543 units in total, up 61.6%), the Toyota Camry hybrid (382 units, up 161.6%), and the Toyota RAV4 hybrid, which experienced record April sales of 609 units, up 5.5% compared to last year.
