Toyota Canada Inc. Supporting Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre With $25,000 Annual Donation for the Next 10 Years

TORONTO, ON., December 23, 2015 –Toyota Canada (TCI) recently announced that its longstanding support for the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) is being strengthened by its intent to donate a total of $250,000 by 2025.

TCI will donate $25,000 per year to the JCCC for the next 10 years. This will help the JCCC meet its growing needs for cultural and historical programs – including conferences, art shows and new exhibits.

“With this donation, the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre will host new and exciting performances and exhibits focusing on Japanese culture for all Canadians to enjoy,” said Seiji Ichii, President and Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Canada Inc. “We are proud to support the JCCC.”

JCCC president Gary Kawaguchi states: “Toyota Canada clearly understands the JCCC’s motto of “Friendship through Culture” and the importance of inclusiveness, volunteerism and open cultural exchange that is so central to what it means to be Canadian. Their generosity, vision and belief in the JCCC encourages us to redouble our efforts to bring all Canadians together through the enjoyment and appreciation of Japanese culture and heritage.”

Founded in 1963, the JCCC is one of the largest and most vibrant Japanese cultural centres in the world, attracting more than 200,000 annual visitors. TCI began donating to the JCCC in 1995. Approximately $900,000 has been donated to date.
