Passionate Hearts and Creative Minds Of Young Canadians Design Dream Cars

 

TORONTO, ON., (April 22, 2014) –Toyota Canada asked Canadians to encourage their children to dream, and they have once again demonstrated their creativity and automotive insight with inspiring artwork submissions for the 2014 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. Whether it was care for the environment and people, or a desire for fun-filled cars, young Canadians showed how a little creativity and a bit of innovation can inspire future dreams.

 

“This is the second year Toyota Canada has held the Dream Car Art Contest, and again we were very impressed by the creativity and inspiration of Canadian youth,” said Seiji Ichii, President and CEO, Toyota Canada Inc. “It’s inspiring to see how these talented young artists combine their love for art with their dreams of how to make our world a better place.”

 

From the selection of entries, the judging panel for this year’s contest selected nine submissions to represent Canada in the global competition. The work of the Canadian finalists will now be judged against the top entries of more than 70 countries, with a select group of world contest finalists to be chosen. Winners of the top 30 global entries will be invited to participate in an all-expenses paid awards ceremony held in Japan in August. Last year, a Canadian winner was chosen and invited to Japan as a finalist in the global competition.

Winners will be awarded with a prize from Toyota Canada, a 7-inch 8GB tablet device (with Wi-Fi), at local ceremonies being held as follows:

 

 

With the contest designed to inspire innovation and encourage the importance of having a dream among youth, entries were judged on originality, creativity and relevance to the “Dream Car” theme.  This year’s judging panel included:

“I love the way the young artists worked so far outside the scope of what cars can do today,” commented Brandie Weikle. “Most of the dream cars used some sort of alternative energy. It was heartening to see so much creativity and ingenuity.”

 

Echoing those sentiments, Jacques Goldstyn added: “I was often brought to imagine cars from the future or vehicles powered by new energies. Being a judge in this contest gave me the chance to see the same kind imagination in all participants in the Toyota Dream Car Contest. We can rest reassured; the new generation of car engineers and designers is guaranteed.”
