Toronto, ON., (February 13, 2014) – Come to the Toronto Auto Show, visit the Toyota booth, and check out the new 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid that’s on display for the first time in Canada.

You’ll discover how you can hit the open road in comfort and style, and do it while lending a helping hand to the environment – and your pocket book.

Toyota set out to bring unprecedented innovation to the vehicle, making it more powerful, more attractive on the outside, better equipped on the inside, and filled with advanced technology, and a lower price.

Now available in three grades – LE, XLE and Limited – the Highlander Hybrid boasts three-row seating for seven or eight passengers and increased cargo capacity. It also offers a selection of attractive 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels, and flush-mounted roof rails are available for improved aerodynamics.

The Highlander Hybrid’s powertrain includes Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system paired with a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine with a high-torque electric drive motor-generator, ensuring exceptional power and fuel efficiency.

Including a $3,500 reduction in the starting MSRP of a popular trim – the XLE – the 2014 Highlander Hybrid creates great value on all trims with a number of additional standard features including Display Audio systems with USB and auxiliary input; three-zone independent automatic climate control with humidity sensor; a back-up camera integrated into the audio display system and leather trimmed steering wheel and shift knob.

2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Pricing:

  • LE – MSRP starting at $43,720
  • XLE – MSRP starting at $46,145
  • Limited – MSRP starting at $52,695

Also at this year’s show, the all-new 2014 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner will be making its Canadian debut.

Drivers who choose the X-Runner can expect to stand out from the crowd, with performance, capability, features, and comfort. The vehicle will be available at Toyota dealerships in March.

The X-Runner is engineered with a passion for performance, with a 4.0 L V6 delivering up to 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. That’s coupled to a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox with overdrive. This combination means great hands-on performance and a combined city/highway fuel efficiency of 11.4 L per 100 km.

The design delivers seating for four in distinctive style, including front sport seats clad in water-repellant fabric and the versatility of rear seats that quickly fold away for additional, covered cargo space. The X-Runner Access Cab features a sliding rear window, privacy glass, and a generous complement of premium convenience and style features.

CIAS visitors can see the new 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid (and the Highlander), as well as the Tacoma X-Runner, in the Toyota display area, which is located on the 800 Level of the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC). The auto show runs February 14-23.
