2013 Toyota Tundra: 11 models offer choice for every full-size job

Performance, comfort, safety and value define Toyota’s full-size pickup truck

(TORONTO, ON –October 23, 2012) Canadians with full size work to be done trust the Toyota Tundra for power, performance, utility, comfort - and above all, dependability. Add it up, and Tundra is the full-size pickup that delivers big value – including the 2012 Best Retained Value Award for large pickup trucks, from Canadian Black Book.
For 2013, several Tundra models receive enhanced available options packages including the added safety of a backup camera with display integrated into the rear view mirror.

“Serious work demands a serious truck – the Toyota Tundra. And with a choice of three 4x2 models and eight 4x4 models, there’s a Tundra for every job,” said Tony Wearing, Senior Managing Director, Toyota Canada Inc. “We also know that our Tundra buyers spend a lot of time in their pickup trucks, so we have made the Tundra a comfortable, well-equipped working environment, too.”

Choice defines Tundra – with two drive trains, two engine sizes, three cab styles and three cargo bed lengths.

Two Tundra models are available with powerful yet efficient 4.6L iFORCE V8 engines, developing 310 peak horsepower and 327 lb-ft of torque. For more power, a 5.7L iFORCE V8 delivers up to 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, Sequential Multiport Electronic Fuel Injection, Electronic Throttle Control with intelligence and other engine management systems ensure maximum power and efficiency for any task, while a heavy duty battery, starter, alternator and heater make Tundra a dependable partner for work in any weather.

All Tundra models feature a six-speed Super ECT automatic transmission with overdrive, sequential shift mode, tow/haul settings, lock-up torque converter, transmission cooler and automatic transmission fluid warmer.

All Tundra models feature an auto-limited slip rear differential, while those with 4x4 drivetrains are equipped with one-touch four wheel drive to maximize fuel efficiency while delivering additional driving confidence when needed. 4x4 models are equipped with underbody protection plates to protect the engine and transfer case from off-road hazards.

The Tundra’s suspension system combines ruggedness and comfort. Double wishbone front suspensions are enhanced with stabilizer bars, while rear suspensions feature heavy-duty multi-leaf springs and bias-mounted gas shock absorbers.

Safety is always standard on a Toyota, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recognized the 2012 Tundra as a Top Safety Pick. Every Tundra features eight airbags (driver and front passenger; driver and front passenger knee; front seat mounted side; roll sensing head/side curtain) plus anchor points for child seats and a direct tire pressure monitoring system. Tundras with the Double Cab or CrewMax cab also feature child protector rear door locks. As with every new Toyota since 2011, the 2013 Tundra is also standard equipped with the six active safety technologies of the Star Safety System: Antilock Brake System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control and Smart Stop Technology work together to help drivers avoid potential accident situations.

All Tundra models are ready for a full day of work – generously equipped with many comfort, convenience and utility features as standard. These include: an audio system with CD player and auxiliary input jack; air conditioning; independently adjustable driver and front passenger seats; tilt-steering column; digital clock; cruise control; convenient in-cabin storage; a 12 volt accessory power outlet; locking glove box; dual power adjustable, heated exterior mirrors; rear step bumper; front and rear splash guards; removable, locking tailgate with easy lift and lower operation; cargo bed tie-downs; bed rail caps; a tow package with heavy duty tow hitch receiver, 4-pin and 7-pin connectors and trailer brake controller pre-wire; and more.
