WELLAND TOYOTA COMMITS TO COMMUNITY, ECONOMIC GROWTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT WITH NEW STATE OF THE ART FACILITY
Welland Toyota adds jobs and investment as it pursues environmental excellence

Welland, ON (June 17, 2011) – Economic development, community involvement and environmental sustainability go hand in hand, as proven by the new home for Welland Toyota. Officials today cut the ribbon on the dealership’s new, 18,000 sq-ft facility in the heart ofOntario’s Niagara Peninsula. At the grand opening of this $4.4-million state of the art facility Toyota Dealer George Farlow was recognized for his long-standing community commitment.

Welland Toyota principal George Farlow has increased employment at his dealership from 15 to 20 with this new facility, and is pursuing Gold Certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System. In addition to jobs and investment, over the past two years Welland Toyota has provided tens of thousands of dollars worth of support to organizations in Welland and surrounding communities – including the cancer wing at the Welland County General Hospital; local veterans; local soccer and hockey teams; and the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival in nearby Port Colborne. And this new state of the art facility not only minimizes the dealership’s environmental footprint, but also acts as a model for other local businesses looking to do the same.

“The community has been extremely supportive of the efforts of the Welland Toyota team,” stated George Farlow, Dealer Principal, Welland Toyota. “Their encouragement has been key in making this day possible.”

“George’s commitment to this community is clearly demonstrated by the efforts he has made with this incredible facility,” stated Stephen Beatty, Chief Environmental Officer and Managing Director, Toyota Canada Inc. “It’s this care for his customers, from supporting local soccer teams, to supporting the cancer wing at Welland County General Hospital, that all of our Canadian Toyota Dealers exhibit. And it echoes the commitment that we, at Toyota Canada, have towards our presence in this country – to Canadian drivers and to the communities where we do business, and where our customers live.”
